Check the calendar page to see when the annual luminaries event will happen, with a Front Yard Friday (but on Saturday) event to follow. For those who are new to the neighborhood, this involves a bunch of volunteers filling sand into paper bags in the morning, placing them around every sidewalk in the neighborhood, and then lighting them at dusk. This is then followed with a social gathering at a neighborhood home, like our regular Front Yard Fridays.
Everything starts at 2pm (or check with the street captain to see if it's earlier on your street). Go to your block's gathering point (see below) to help fill and place the bags. The evening events, both for kids and adults, are at 914 W. Turney Ave. starting at 6pm.
To help with the setup of the luminaries, you can just show up at your street location at 2pm on Saturday, or leave a comment in the Facebook Event discussion or email us at wmboardphx@gmail.com so we know you're coming. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. It's a great way to get to know your neighbors!
Here are the gathering locations for each block. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR SOME CAPTAINS! Please sign up if you can help; you'll just host the gathering, it really isn't much more work.
Olaf from the movie Frozen will be visiting the neighborhood from just 6:00-7:00 pm for a meet and greet, cookies and cocoa! It's at the same location as the Front Yard event, 914 W. Turney. After you light up your streets luminaries, bundle up your little ones in their holiday PJs and head over to this festive celebration!
For more information that will be regularly updated, go to our Facebook page and look for the Luminaries Event. The chat under that event will update everyone on where help is needed during the event.
