Woodlea Melrose is a historic neighborhood at the center of Phoenix’s Melrose District. Many of its homes were built between 1929 and 1949, giving the area its distinctive charm.
Today, more than 300 households make up a close community where neighbors stay connected through events, volunteer projects, and shared efforts to care for the neighborhood.
The Woodlea Melrose Neighborhood Association is run by volunteer neighbors. Our leadership team includes a Chair, Vice Chair, and Treasurer, along with a communications team that helps share neighborhood updates and event information.
Other key volunteer roles help keep neighborhood programs running, including a Tool Shed Director who manages the neighborhood tool lending library and a Front Yard Friday coordinator, who organizes our monthly neighborhood gathering. Volunteers also help lead events and community projects throughout the year.
The association is registered with the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department as an incorporated neighborhood association.
Residents are invited to make an optional annual neighborhood contribution of $40, which helps support neighborhood events, communication tools, and shared resources like the tool shed.
Woodlea Melrose is a neighborhood where people come together throughout the year. Residents organize events that help neighbors meet, reconnect, and enjoy the community.
Front Yard Friday is a monthly gathering where neighbors meet in a resident’s yard for a relaxed evening of conversation. Other traditions include the Spirit Walk before Halloween, Luminary Night during the holidays when luminarias line the streets, neighborhood yard sales, and seasonal celebrations.
These events are organized by volunteers and help make Woodlea Melrose a welcoming place where neighbors know each other.
There are lots of ways to participate in neighborhood life:
• Attend neighborhood events
• Volunteer at a community project
• Help host or support an event
• Join the neighborhood email list to stay informed
• Support the neighborhood with an annual contribution
Woodlea Melrose is a volunteer-run community, and neighbors make it what it is. We always welcome new ideas and new helping hands. Even helping once or twice a year makes a difference
